6.3 - Transfer Policy

California Highway Patrol | Standard Operating Procedures

Transfers to the California Highway Patrol must go through Chain of Command and Heads depending on who is transferring.

If someone that is the equivalent of CHP Lieutenant or below, they will lose 1 rank and will need to follow the guidelines that are stated in our SOP of what certifications they can keep with pay grade assigned upon transfer.

When any Head from BPD may request a transfer to CHP they may be eligible for Lieutenant.

They will only receive Lieutenant if a Vote passes within the Head’s team.

Blacklists may be issued by a member of the Office of the Assistant Commissioner+, Chief's can also issue blacklists with the Approval of their Assistant Commissioner or a member of the Commissioner's Office provided they have a legitimate reason to believe that they would not be up to CHP standards and have the ability to act in a mature, respectful and professional manner.
