Field Training Assistant ~ Senior Officer

FTA: An FTA's job is to assist in the training of recruits and other troopers subdivisions

Field Training Officer ~ Senior Officer (Required evaluation from FTO-E)

FTO: An FTO's job is to train recruits and troopers to become certified for a subdivision or the rank up to Probationary Trooper by hosting trainings.

Field Training Officer Evaluator ~ Lieutenant FTO-E: An FTO-E’s job is to train FTA’s to become certified FTO and to make sure our FTO’s are following the correct training guide when doing training.

Field Training Officer Administrator ~ Chief

FTO-A: As a FTO-A you will be getting the job to hire new FTO-E’s to make sure that we have sufficient FTO’s. You will be administering all FTA’s, FTO’s and FTO-E’s. The primary responsibility for an FTO-E is to assess and manage the FTO’s and FTA’s, it is also their duty to watch trainings to make sure they are being handled in a fair and impartial manner. FTO-E’s should assist the FTO’s and FTA’s in any sort of questions or concerns they might have. FTO-E’s should be continuously making sure all FTO’s are filling out their respective documents in order to keep a log of all trainings and ridealongs done. In order to acquire FTO-E the FTO should have participated in multiple trainings and ridealongs. The FTO should be an expert in all matters pertaining to CHP SOPs and procedures and should be capable of solving any issues brought before them. Do Not ask for FTO-E you must be recommended by either the Commissioner's office or the Deputy Commissioner's office.
